Charitable organizations and the individuals who donate to them positively affect the lives of thousands of Louisiana citizens. The Louisiana Attorney General’s Office is here to assist consumers with how to make a wise charitable donation and to assist charitable organizations and professional solicitors with their legal obligations in our state.

Under Louisiana law, charitable organizations that use a professional solicitor to help receive donations and professional solicitors who solicit on behalf of charitable organizations are required to register annually with the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office.

Consumers will find information on wise charitable giving under the More Resources section of this page.

Also under the More Resources section, charitable organizations and professional solicitors will find the registration requirements and necessary forms to comply with Louisiana law.

If you have any questions regarding this information, please contact our Consumer Protection Section at 1-800-351-4889.

Coming soon, the attorney's general office seeks to provide a mechanism by which to take online payments for collections.
