The Attorney General is elected by the citizens of Louisiana to serve a four-year term and acts as the Chief Legal Officer of the state. The Attorney General gets his authority from the Louisiana Constitution and through statutes enacted by the Legislature. On January 11, 2016 - Jeff Landry
became Louisiana's Attorney General.
