Cyber Safety

To report suspected cases of Internet crime, call 1-800-256-4506.

You do a lot on your phone. You text, email, and share photos and videos. You update your status, post comments, and send direct messages on social media.

Your phone provides a way to instantly connect with others; but socializing, playing, and communicating online can also present problems. It can sometimes be a way to overshare, embarrass yourself, and possibly get unwanted messages from people you do not know.

P
racticing healthy Internet safety or “e-safety” habits should now be commonplace in all households with Internet service.  Just as there are guidelines we should follow to promote a healthy lifestyle, children and adults should have a clear understanding of rules and expectations in regards to e-safety.  The best way to protect your children online is through creating and maintaining open lines of communication. Parents and guardians cannot rely solely on software applications and device restrictions to protect their children from the dangers lurking online.

Prepare your children for the online world as you would the real world.   Engage your children about their online activity, including the websites they are visiting, the people they are communicating with, the information they are posting about themselves, and any situations that make them feel scared, uncomfortable, or confused.

So we have designed "
Be Smart with Your Smart Phone" to help you be smart with your smart phone and to help ensure that you know how to avoid illegal behavior. You may download a digital copy below.
