BATON ROUGE, LA – Attorney
General Jeff Landry issued the following statement after the Louisiana House of
Representatives passed HB 455:
“Today, the Louisiana House – in a unanimous and bi-partisan
manner – passed a critical bill to clarify the law as it pertains to the
tracking and registering of sex offenders. Our office’s Sexual Predator
Apprehension Team – along with our LBI and our local, state, and federal law
enforcement partners – works tirelessly to ensure sex offenders and child
predators living, working, or attending school in our State comply with their
registration and notification requirements. This process helps the public to
know their whereabouts and propensities. Today’s vote takes us one step closer
to helping all law enforcement agencies in their efforts to keep the public
safe from sex offenders and child predators. I encourage the Senate and the
Governor to follow the House’s leadership and get this bill signed into law as
quickly as possible.”
