Emergency Preparedness

Louisiana is no stranger to natural disasters.  It is important to be an informed citizen before, during, and after one of these events.  This page is devoted to the preparation and response to an emergency situation.  Under More Resources you will find helpful information on how to detect and report price gouging and contractor fraud, as well as access to our consumer complaint form.

Law enforcement agents can also access information about the Attorney General's Emergency Preparedness and Response Training, and can download a copy of the training manual.

In October of 2016 Attorney General Jeff Landry joined federal, state, and local leaders to announce the National Center for Disaster Fraud (NCDF) Hotline dealing with complaints of fraud following the devastating flood in South Louisiana. This collaborative effort assists in monitoring fraud complaints and assigning them to the appropriate agency for further action: http://www.agjefflandry.com/Article/2309/5.

The NCDF Hotline is: 1-866-720-5721.

Please check in periodically, as we will continue to update the site with more helpful information and links regarding emergency preparedness.

Consumer Tips for Natural Disaster Victims

Unfortunately, natural disasters attract con artists and scammers hoping to prey on people who are down on their luck. Attorney General Jeff Landry has compiled the Consumer Tips for Natural Disaster Victims booklet to help protect the citizens of Louisiana from becoming victims of fraud, scams, or price gouging before, during, and after natural disasters. Under More Resources you will find a copy of this booklet.
