Louisiana Bureau of Investigation agents arrest Paincourtville man for Government Benefits Fraud
Agents with Attorney General Liz Murrill's Louisiana Bureau of Investigation arrested 53-year-old Lenroy Brown, of Highway 1 in Paincourtville in Assumption Parish on Tuesday, June 10
On December 11, 2023, Special Agents assigned to the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation received a complaint from the Louisiana Department of Health in reference to Lenroy Brown allegedly committing Medicaid Recipient Fraud.
The complaint alleged that Brown misrepresented his income in order to receive Medicaid benefits.
According to the affidavit, employment records obtained through a subpoena confirmed that Brown received substantial unreported income while he remained enrolled in Medicaid. Between April 11, 2021, and March 31, 2023, Brown earned a total of $169,772.67 in wages that were never disclosed to LDH. Brown fraudulently obtained $16,758.03 in Medicaid benefits to which he was not entitled.
After conducting an extensive criminal investigation into the complaint and learning that Brown did unlawfully receive Medicaid benefits, Special Agents secured an arrest warrant for violation of Louisiana law, prohibited acts as defined by L.R.S. 14:70.9 Government Benefits Fraud.
On June 10, Brown was located and placed under arrest and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison without incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
