Louisiana Bureau of Investigation agents arrest West Monroe woman for defrauding elderly victim
Agents with Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill's Louisiana Bureau of Investigation arrested a West Monroe woman on multiple charges on July 2, 2025.
41-year-old Meghan Lenehan O’Boyle, of Dean Chapel Road in West Monroe, was arrested and charged with:
- 1 Count of LRS 14:70.8 - Illegal transmission of monetary funds
- 1 Count of LRS 14:67(B)(1) - Theft over $25,000 (Felony)
- 1 Count of LRS 14:93.4(2) - Exploitation of persons with infirmities
On December 16, 2022, Special Agent Jessica McCrary of the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation, Louisiana Office of the Attorney General, was assigned this case to investigate.
Upon assignment, documents were reviewed from the complainant regarding an elderly victim’s assets to which the power of attorney now governs.
The elderly victim had approximately $751,498 missing in an account.
The power of attorney located $350,000 worth of funds missing from the victim's bank account. During the review of their financial records, transactions made to Barclays Bank of Delaware (Barclays) were identified as suspected fraud, alleging unauthorized withdrawal of a member’s assets for a gross amount of $256,117.58.
Based on the records provided for the victim's accounts, O’Boyle used her position and authority to circumvent the power of attorney and take advantage of an elderly victim, swindling the victim and her family of thousands of dollars, which incurred a total loss of approximately $609,804.74.
