AG Murrill’s Louisiana Bureau of Investigation Arrests Point à la Hache Man in Workers’ Compensation Fraud Scheme

Attorney General Liz Murrill’s Louisiana Bureau of Investigation arrested a Point à la Hache man for his involvement in a workers’ compensation fraud scheme after investigators determined he falsely claimed a work-related injury following the end of his employment and submitted related documentation to support the claim.

On March 12, 2026, Special Agents with the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation (LBI), received a complaint from a local attorney representing the Red White & Blue Thrift Store regarding possible workers’ compensation fraud.

Agents initiated a criminal investigation and determined that on April 8 and April 30, 2025, 56-year-old Sheadrick Jones, of Bethleham Street in Point à la Hache, received medical treatment at facilities located in Marrero and Metairie, Louisiana. During these visits, Jones completed and signed documentation claiming that he sustained a work-related injury on April 7, 2025, while employed at Red White & Blue Thrift Store.

Further investigation revealed that Jones had been terminated from his employment at Red White & Blue Thrift Store on March 30, 2025, and therefore was not employed on the date of the alleged injury.

Based on these findings, Special Agents obtained an arrest warrant for Jones for violations of Louisiana law, including:

  • L.R.S. 14: 72 Forgery
  • L.R.S. 14:70.8 Illegal Transmission of Monetary Funds
  • L.R.S. 23:1208 Misrepresentations Concerning Benefit Payments ($635)

On April 22, 2026, deputies with the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office located and arrested Jones, booking him into the Plaquemines Parish Jail.

On April 23, 2026, LBI agents transported Jones from the Plaquemines Parish Jail to the Jefferson Parish Jail, where he was booked without incident.

His total bond amount for all the charges is $20,000.

The investigation is ongoing.
