AG Murrill’s Louisiana Bureau of Investigation Arrests Scott Man for Failure to Register as Sex Offender and Unlawful Social Media Use

Agents with Attorney General Liz Murrill's Louisiana Bureau of Investigation arrested a man from Scott, Louisiana, for failure to registers as a sex offender and unlawful social media use.

36-year-old Gabriel Nichol Francis, of Garnie Lane in Scott, who is currently incarcerated at the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center in reference to a probation violation, was booked on the following additional charge by the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation:

  • LA R.S.14:91.5 Unlawful use of a social networking website (4 counts)
  • LA R.S.15:542.1.4 Failure to Register and Notify as a Sex Offender or Child Predator (2 counts).

These additional charges are the result of an investigation between the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation and the Louisiana Office of Probation and Parole, after LBI agents got a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Francis is currently a registered sex offender.

Both the Louisiana Office of Probation and Parole and the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office assisted our office with this investigation.

Francis' bond has reportedly been set at $7,500.

The investigation is ongoing.
