Attorney General Liz Murrill’s Louisiana Bureau of Investigation arrested a woman on charges of government benefits fraud and first degree injuring public records.

64-year-old Juanita Trahan, of Harding Drive, Houma, was arrested September 9th, 2026, on the following charges:

• R.S. 14:70.9 (4) Government Benefits Fraud

• R.S. 14:70.9 (5) Government Benefits Fraud (3 counts)

• R.S. 14:132 First Degree Injuring Public Records 

LBI received a criminal referral from Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) regarding allegations that Juanita Trahan, a Medicaid recipient, had underreported her income for purposes to receive Medicaid benefits.

During this investigation, LBI agents learned that in the period between January 2025 and February 2026, Trahan provided false information to LDH by concealing her marital status and true household income.  As a result, Trahan defrauded the Medicaid program of more than $15,000.

On Wednesday, September 9, 2026, LBI agents arrested Trahan pursuant to an arrest warrant issued by the 19th Judicial District Court on charges pertaining to Government Benefits Fraud and Injuring Public Records. Trahan was booked without incident at the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. 

Trahan’s bond information is unknown at this time.

The investigation remains ongoing.
